The wood is
the whole point.
Paulownia is what makes a hollow wooden board light enough to actually surf. Stateside most builds end up in cedar, redwood or balsa, because board-grade Paulownia — dried, stable, clean and cut to size — is the hard part to source. That's what ships in the box.
- Grown in EuropeFollowed since 2006: the nursery, the Mediterranean clone, the first planting, the first harvest.
- Light and stableAbout 16-17 lb/ft³, and it stays put once it's glued up.
- Clean stockVirtually knot-free, no cosmetic defects, straight and parallel cuts.
- Cut by rolePlaned and sized piece by piece: deck, bottom, rails, blocks.

// The shapers
Stateside already:
Paul Rice.
Paul shapes and builds at Terrapin Surfboards out of Folly Beach, South Carolina. He knows what a waist-high summer day on that coast calls for: more width, more volume, more paddle. His seven models kick off the Signature collection — first shaper in, definitely not the last. Stuck mid-build? He's done more than nine WOODKIT builds himself, so there's someone stateside who's been exactly where you are.
- Your waveYour home break, your way of surfing it.
- His shapeDrawn on your side of the Atlantic, with his name on it.
- Your handsA board you know inside out, because you built it.

Good timing.
The first workshop is happening in Folly Beach, dates pending. The rest is getting built with the people who build, and right now that's a short list — call out the one you'd actually use and you'll hear about it first.

your own board.
Build your own board in Paul's shop, step by step, with him over your shoulder. Small group, one board each, and the wood cut and waiting when you show up. Your board — not a sample, not a group project. The programme spells out exactly what you take home.

Share a box with two buddies: 3 kits ship for €225, €75 each. A single kit ships from €145.
// Getting it to your door
Spain to
your garage.
Kits leave Spain by express courier and land at your door. Duties and state taxes, where they apply, are on you and don't get collected at checkout. If the box shows up beat, shoot photos of the packaging and the parts before anything hits the trash, and reach out within 24 hours. Spain runs six hours ahead of the East Coast, so a message you send over coffee usually gets answered the same day.
// Questions builders ask
Before you build.
Do I need previous board-building experience?+
What's in the box, and what isn't?+
Will I pay import duties?+
Can I build several boards, or build for other people?+
What if I get stuck halfway?+
// Every builder starts somewhere
Build one.
Surf it. Build another.
One board turns into a quiver, a shop out back, or just the best board on the roof rack.
